DBU/GUI offers 'explorer' like features for the System i AS/400 file systems and allows the user to maneuver the screen conveniently with the mouse or keyboard via buttons and tab panels. File properties & field information is just a click away!
DBU/GUI was developed using JAVA, which means that the product operates on any operating system with a compliant java virtual machine. Using a TCP/IP connection, DBU information from the System i database is presented thru the graphical user interface.
DBU/GUI uses ZERO interactive resources and has all the functionality of the green-screen version!
DBU/GUI is also accessible thru the System Navigator(IBM's surveying and systems management tool) and the WDSc(Websphere Development Studio client) environment. DBU features a database node with DBU 'plugged' into these products. With IBM's latest releases, both products have been enhanced to make GUI even more appealing and functional for iSeries 400 shops. Combined with DBU/GUI, this simplifies the process of operations management and the display of library and file information in your development environment.
With DBU you can let some of your staff continue with the traditional green screen and some venture into the DBU/GUI world. If you created any DBU applications through our green screen interface, these will instantly be available via the new GUI. DBU is a much less radical departure from what you are most productive with. You will be able to venture into the GUI world and yet return to the green screen environment whenever you want.
Try DBU/GUI today with your FREE single user license with your DBU purchase! Then call us for more DBU/GUI seats for your entire staff!
DBU access to the System i AS/400 database is available thru the traditional green screen, our graphical user interface and even thru IBM's Systems Navigator and WDSc. Just let us know what you are most comfortable with & we will get you up and running!
DBU software installations with a release date of 03/02/06 or later have the facility to use a command called DBUPTF to update DBU to the current version.
