DBU RDB FAQ's
- 1. What databases can DBU/RDB access??
- DB2 UDB 8.1 or greater, SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL. If you require a different database, send a request to our helpdesk at help@prodatacomputer.com.
- 2. Will DBU/RDB access DB2 on another System i?
- DBU/RDB can not access another System i, only DB2 on a non-System i platform.
- 3. What are the system requirements in order to use DBU/RDB?

- Requires i5/OS or OS/400 V4R5 or greater.
- DBU 7.0
- There must also be an I/P connection to the remote server.
- 4. How will DBU/RDB connect to another database?
- DBU/RDB connects to the remote system via a standard I/P connection.
- 5. How do you install DBU/RDB?
- Simply install DBU and select the DBU/RDB option.
- 6. Will a user profile with any special authority be needed to install and configure DBU/RDB?
- To install DBU/RDB you must have at least *IOSYSCFG authority.
- 7. I attempted to install DBU RDB without *IOSYSCFG authority, do I need to reinstall it with *IOSYSCFG authority?
- Yes, once you have a profile that has *IOSYSCFG authority just reinstall DBU and DBU RDB software.
- 8. How do we start DBU/RDB?
- STRSBS SBS(DBURDBSBS).
- 9. Will DBU/RDB software allow users to change or view objects they don't normally have authority to?
- No. DBU/RDB cannot circumvent database authorities.
- 10. Is there any auditing available with the use of DBU/RDB??
- Changes made with DBU/RDB can be tracked with the DBU Audit plug-in.
