ProData Computer Services, Inc. introduces Remote Database Connect (RDB Connect). This new product gives developers full SQL access to remote databases from an RPG, COBOL or CL program on the IBM i. The software is available on the ProData website and will be released at the Fall COMMON User Group conference in Columbus, OH.
RDB Connect allows users to access cross-platform, real-time data on remote systems using APIs to execute any SQL query. RDB Connect supports access to MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Postgre, DB2 database and others. RDB Connect communicates directly with these remote databases from all high-level languages on the IBM i. This allows the import and export of remote data, to and from the IBM i, and can be used in batch or interactive programs.
“RDB Connect drives our DBU Remote Database plug-in and many of our customers wanted that same remote database access integrated within their business applications", said ProData owner and CEO, Allen Hartley. "RDB Connect allows our customers to easily share data across platforms within their programs, which can eliminate data transfers or duplicate data entry in some cases.”
With this addition, ProData continues to offer a feature-rich product line that loyal followers have come to expect. The performance & functionality of each utility continues to provide quick and easy methods to access databases and to enrich development environments.
